Season 3 and Season 4 would be perfect. Knuckles would be in there along with Scratch, Grounder, and Coconut in season 3. Season 4 would have Mighty and Team Chaotix.

No offense to the movies, but I agree, I Miss the Freedom fighters, Rotor being my favorite by the way. And I know, SEGA wants to move forward with Sonic, but let's be clear, 1. Sonic Forces is Satam, with the hideout, and the resistences. 2. Amy's new mature personality feels like bits and bits of Sally's character/ soul 3. Eggman being known as robotnic again. 4. Sonic's relying on his friends/team being known as his family figure. No offense once again about the movies, but SONIC SATAM NEEDS MORE LOVE AGAIN! GO FREEDOM FIGHTERS!

Not sure how Naugus’s powers will be balanced in this, I’d imagine he either had to give up some of it to escape the realm he was trapped in, or Sonic and Sally are immune or resistant to his magic thanks ti their interaction with that magic stone (can’t remember what it was called) at the end of the series.
